Cristiano Ronaldo hogs the limelight on a soccer field and even off the field. But while he may be busy doing something else, it is his statue that is hogging the limelight.
There is no denying that the Portuguese soccer player is loved by millions and millions of his fans throughout the world. His face is recognized from London to Los Angeles and from Mexico City to Mecca in Saudi Arabia and almost everywhere else in between.
While the footballer endorses almost anything and everything under the sun across the globe and has a very recognizable face, his admirers were shocked to see his the face that appeared as his bust.
The local authorities in his native Madeira islands wanted the airport to name after him. The locals organized a huge function and Ronaldo’s bust was unveiled during the ceremony.
The organizers had thought that the bust would become a pride of the place, but instead, it has become a mark of ridicule. Apparently the person who was tasked to deliver the bust wasn’t given a clear picture of the soccer heavyweight.
Ronaldo and Messi are the two players who have been named the top two players of the world of the current generation of players. Often ranked the best player in the world and widely regarded as one of the greatest of all time, Ronaldo was named the best Portuguese player of all time by the Portuguese Football Federation, during its 100th anniversary celebrations in 2015.
