Congress releases 1st list of candidates for Gujarat assembly elections 2017— Names of vidhan sabha contestants

ViewsHeadlines Desk,

Ahmadabad: Several days after Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) released its first list of candidates, Congress party has finally come out with its first candidates list. The Party that seems to be optimistic about its chances in the Gujarat Vidhan Sabha elections 2017 has been involved in serious dialogues with Patidar community or Patel community in the state.

Patel is a very influential community in the state and plays a pivotal role in the state politics, business and the industry. There is no denying that it is rather impossible for the rest of the country to even think of Patel community as backward or poor community.

They are the most prosperous community in the country. Congress has refused to give them representation in caste based quota, though there has been some headway in a sort of proposal to give some sort of reservations to them on the basis of their economic condition. Its contours are not clear, nonetheless it gives Congress some more hope in doing rather well in the state assembly elections.

Next vidhan sabha election in Gujarat or Gujarat assembly elections 2017 dates have already been announced. Elections will be held on 9 and 14 December 2017. Counting will take place on December 18.

BJP is on the backfoot this year and anti-incumbancy seems to be a major factor. Besides, noteban and GST seems to have antagonized a large number of people from middle class background. This middle class was the most trusted support base of the saffron party.

The total number of electorates in Gujarat is 4,33,11,321. This includes 2,25,57,032 males and 2,07,57,032 females.
