Was Chester Bennington murdered? If conspiracy theories doing the rounds on social media and on internet are to be believed, the Linkin Park singer and songwriter neither died of his own nor committed suicide but was murdered.
Similar were the rumors after the death of his friend, singer and songwriter, Chris Cornell’s death merely just over two months. Chris Cornell too had taken his own life and almost in a similar fashion in which Chester Bennington took his life.
A report in Yournewswire.com, a website that seems to be fairly popular and should have more than a hundred thousand visitors daily posted a story on the conspiracy theory. Reports suggest that yournewswire.com has been known to post similarly fake news stories before. CBS News did a quick investigation on a story they ran about Michelle Obama and determined it to be false. The story claimed that Michelle Obama had unfollowed Hillary Clinton on Twitter, but it wasn’t true.
Despite such rumors doing the rounds, there is not truth in such rumors and conspiracy theories. What is similar between the two is the style of suicide. There were several similarities between the two friends. And now a latest TMZ report claims that there were similarities in how the two ended their lives. Merely two months ago, Chris Cornell ended his life by hanging himself. May 18, 2017, Cornell was found dead by his bodyguard in the bathroom of his room at the MGM Grand in Detroit after performing at a show with Soundgarden at the Fox Theatre on May 17.
The leading Hollywood blog TMZ says, “Chester Bennington may have mimicked the suicide of his close friend, Chris Cornell, because they died in virtually identical ways…Law enforcement sources tell us, the Linkin Park singer was found hanging from a door separating his bedroom from his closet…We’re also told Chester was found with a belt around his neck. Chris was found with an exercise band around his neck”.
