Chanel Rion is the fiancée of Courtland Sykes, a Republican Senate hopeful from Missouri who is being criticized by almost everyone for his misogynist comments on a social media forum. While not much is expected from Republican leaders, his comments look rather unfortunate given the fact that his wife is not an ordinary woman and has been educated at the best colleges in the US.
I am not sure how his Harvard educated wife to be is thinking right now after his long tirade against freedom of the fairer sex in the society. While writing on a social media forum he said, “I want to come home to a home-cooked dinner at six every night…One that she fixes and one that I expect one day to have daughters learn to fix after they become traditional homemakers and family wives—think Norman Rockwell here and Gloria Steinem be damned.”
If that was not enough, he went on to add, “I don’t buy into radical feminism’s crazed definition of modern womanhood and I never did. They made it up to suit their own nasty, snake-filled heads…I want daughters to have their own intelligence, their own dignity, their own workspace and their own degrees; I want them to build home-based enterprises and live in homes shared with good husbands and I don’t want them to grew up into career-obsessed banshees who forgo home life and children and the happiness of family to become nail-biting, manophonic, hell-bent feminist she devils who shriek from the tops of a thousand tall buildings they are think [sic] they could have leaped over in a single bound—had men not [been] ‘suppressing them.’ It’s just nuts.”
Sykes is all set to face Democrat Claire McCaskill in November 2018’s U.S. Senate race. If reports are to be believed Chanel Rion met Courtland Sykes at a CIA Recruitment Event at Harvard. That meeting was preceded by Sykes seeing Rion featured in a DeJour magazine article about conservatives on campus at Harvard. Her website claims that notwithstanding the fact that she was a bright International Relations student at Harvard, she is serious in pursuing a career as an illustrator. Rion says on her website that she is creating a series of illustrations for girls who want to “Make America Again.” Rion and Sykes together are seeking to create a summer camp that will keep children away from different ideas titled, “Visit the Real America.”
She too seems to be diehard Republican. On her website she says that her father left the US with his family when Clinton became the President. “Clinton was the last straw, so dad picked up stakes and moved us out of the country. I think he wanted us to see what a debauched idea socialism was and that socialism was what the Clintons stood for. He wanted us to see what socialism did in the real world—how it destroyed people and human happiness in practice”, says her bio on her website. The family reportedly moved to South Korea.
She prides in the fact that Donald Trump Junior has appreciated her illustration work. She claims that President Trump’s son used one of her illustrations to win “the media historic battle” that Trump JR. had waged against MSNBC host Rachel Maddow.
