BMC Elections 2017 – Schedule, Polling Dates, BJP, Shiv Sena, Congress, AIMIM candidates

ViewsHeadlines Desk,

Mumbai: Elections for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporations (BMC) are coming close. Less than a week is left when the polls will be held in the financial capital of the country. The BMC is the richest municipal corporation in the country and leaves cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata far behind.

There is suspense and uncertainty in the air this time round. While never before in recent history one had doubt about the success of Shiv Sena in local elections in Mumbai, this time there are apprehensions and doubts. Will Shiv Sena be able to weather the storm it is facing by giving triple talaq to the BJP and go for the polls alone?

The BJP is looking confidante and there are chances that the big guns of the party may descend upon the metropolis and campaign for the party candidates in the local polls.

Udhav_Thackeray_sena_rallyThe elections will be held across Mumbai for the BMC 2017 polls on February 21. There are as many as 2,275 candidates in the fray, including 1,190 males, 1,084 females and one transgender. While common people may not count more than four or five political parties fighting the polls, Election Commission has said that as many as 13 political parties will be fighting the elections. This include All india Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen, a Hyderabad based outfit, that will fight the polls here for the first time.
