Alexander Bonds, a 34-year old man who fatally shot a female NYPD officer is reportedly dead. The attacker was shot dead in response to the unprovoked firing at NYPD Officer Miosotis Familia.
Reports suggest that Bonds, with a long record of criminal activities in the past ambushed and fatally shot Miosotis Familia while she was in a mobile command post early Wednesday. The completely unprovoked firing took place in Bronx, according to NYPD officials.
Reports suggest that the shooter was shot dead in response to firing at Miosotis Familia who also died from the fatal gunshot wound. The incident has shocked New York City sending shockwaves both among denizens and police officials alike.
Reports suggest that the 48-year-old female officer was immediately taken to hospital, but could not be saved. Police are still investigating the killing, which authorities have called an assassination.
Bonds seemed to hate cops. His anti-cops sentiments were repeatedly expressed on his Facebook page. A report suggests that his expressed homophobic sentiments on Facebook Live last September. The shooter on Facebook Live, while waving a lit cigarette, appeared to be upset by a story of a cop allegedly raping a girl. He then began airing his grievances with law enforcement, including correction officers. “Don’t think every brother, cousin or uncle you got that get (unintelligible) in jail is because of a Blood or Crip…Police be killing and saying an inmate killed them…N—-s ain’t taking it no more, Mr. Officer. I’m here to tell you man. … just keep your a– away from mine” he can be clearly heard in the video.
The man didn’t seem to have clean reputation among neighbors. “When you see him at night, you would want to be careful and cross the street…I would see him hanging out with his friends … walking around, selling drugs. He would argue with his friends in the street and play fight all the time.”
In the meantime, the shooter was caught on surveillance video walking up to the mobile command unit near E. 183rd St. and Creston Ave. about 12:30 a.m. before opening fire on Officer Miosotis Familia. “Let’s be clear. This was nothing less than an assassination of a police officer. Our understanding is she was filling out her memo book and he walked out and fired one round,” a source told the New York Daily News.
Meanwhile, Familia’s partner shouted for help as the officer was shot. “Shots fired,” the officer screamed into his radio. He can then be heard yelling, “I need a f—–g bus! 10-85 10-85! My partner’s shot! My partner’s shot! My partner’s shot! Hurry up central!”
Police Commissioner James O’Neill who condoled the death of the officer told media in a press conference “Based on what we know right now, this was an unprovoked attack against police officers who want to keep this great city safe”. Officer Miosotis Familia was a 12-year veteran of the NYPD, the department said in a Facebook post. She was assigned to the anti-crime unit in the 46h Precinct, located in the Fordham Heights neighborhood of the Bronx, the NYPD said. Familia was the mother of three children, who were rushed to the hospital to be at her bedside when she died, PIX 11 reports.
