Mumbai: All India Majlis Ittehadul Muslimeen’s (AIMIM) firebrand leader Akbaruddin Owaisi has denied accusations that his party and the BJP were in secret alliance. He said that such rumors are being spread by the Congress party to discredit the AIMIM.
The Hyderabad MLA also denied accusations that it was involved in land grabbing of waqf properties. He said that the people levelling such baseless charges should be ashamed because they are the cause of the deplorable conditions of Muslims of Mumbai and all of Maharashtra and are trying to gain their victims’ confidence by targetting AIMIM.
He said that Congress minds it when AIMIM talks about giving the Muslim community its due respectably because they had been robbing the Muslims of basic rights and amenities for twenty years.
But apparently, the Congress party is not the only party that has made such allegations. Peace Party’s Aziz Barni, in a full page ad in Daily Inquilab made the same allegations. Barni said, if the AIMIM was not in cahoots with the BJP why all the Muslim organizations including the Jamaat islami Hind, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, Milli Council and all the organizations and Muslim leaders refrained from supporting the Hyderabad based party.
Meanwhile Akbaruddin Owaisi also targeted the BJP, saying that the party that was behind the demolition of Babri Masjid, behind the violence against Muslims, behind the usurpation of the properties and dignity of Muslim women, can never be in alliance with AIMIM.
He claimed that he has stood up for the rights of Mumbai and Mharashtrian Muslims and that he is not here to play the politics of votes. The amount of service and development that AIMIM has done in Mahrashtra is the reason they are standing tall amidst the support of Muslims in the state. Akbaruddin Owais said that he has been able to provide the Muslim children with schooling and higher education and the Cancer hospital, among the many promised rights of the Muslims. These development are now possible because the efforts of AIMIM.
He added that Congress and NCP has denied Muslims their due rights and this is the cause of their backwardness in the state.
Questioning the justice of Congress, Akbaruddin Owais said that during the reign of Congress, Abdul Rehman Antulay was a union minister for Minority Affairs and a Member of Parliament in the 14th Lok Sabha of India. He was an honourable servant of the public but on his death he was not awarded the state of honour. He deserved this honour but he was not given his due because he was a Muslim.
He went on to say that many such injustice done by the Congress party against Muslims is now out in the open. Muslims deserved and needed a better and just party to represent them and so Allah allowed the creation of AIMIM. This party is here for them. He urged the Muslim population to support Majlis candidates and give them a chance to represent them in the government. (Translated from Urdutimes, Mumbai)
