His parents, relatives and other people were hoping against hope that the toddler will be found sooner than later. But alas, it was not to be.
Adam Roach, a 6-year old boy from Lakeland, who went missing on Friday from his home, has been found dead. Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said that the body of the child was discovered from a retention pond near his home on Friday.
While giving details about the child, Sheriff Grady Judd said Adam reportedly went missing around 3:30 p.m. Friday when he was last seen. Judd said that the search began immediately when it was realized that the child was missing. Judd said there were four ponds on the apartment complex’s property and all were being searched with special equipment. Judd said one of the ponds is 11-feet deep.
Before the discovery of the child’s body, the sheriff said, “We need the people in the community that live within a 3-mile perimeter… to go out in their back yard, look in their swimming pool, look underneath their cars, their bushes, any place that they may have in their yard that he could hide…Our hope and prayer is that he’s wandered away and that he’s scared and he’s laying down in someone’s back yard right now. But our worst fear is that he is in one of those ponds in the neighborhood.”
Later, the same evening, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office dive team found Adam Roach in a pond directly behind his home at approximately 10:30 p.m. on Friday evening. “At this time, we found Adam, but certainly not the way we wanted to,” said Judd.
